The Sandia Peak Tram … a Worthy, Quick Side Trip from Interstate 25 near Albuquerque, New Mexico
by Stu Moment

With all the site seeing in and around towns like Santa Fe and Los Alamos you may not be aware of the tram ride up to Sandia Peak.

It’s off Interstate 25 on the northeast side of Albuquerque. You may be travelling this route on business or just regular travel.

Consider taking an hour (or two) out of your day to enjoy the Tram ride and a good moderate priced lunch.

The tram ride for an adult costs $20 as of this 2013 writing.

At the High Finance restaurant the menu had a variety of sandwich combos under 15 bucks … Grilled Chicken, Salmon … Big Burgers made any way … lots of other well made, satisfying meals … and a really nice variety of salads to suit anyone.

Sandia Peak just looks large from a distance but close up the scenery is unbelievable.

The tram is in. It will be much easier to board than an airliner.

Takeoff !!

Looking down I see a cactus. Wonder if they’re real or plastic.

Sandia looks great when you are close to it.

Looks like we’re getting close to the top. I’m tired just thinking about what a hike it would have been.

Nice tram station up top. If you have poor cell phone reception at home or on the highway, take the tram to Sandia Peak. Great reception.

What a view … we’re looking north!

Hungry! … There’s the restaurant.

Inside the restaurant. I had a big burger and a Greek salad … but I wanted everything on the menu.

The next group of pictures show just a few the exhibits at the upper tram station. You could easily take a half hour to read and think about them.

Mountain-top Islands? They tell me that the area was once under water and rose-up. Sounds like a sci-fi movie to me.
